my computer cable is permanetly damaged so i can switch on ma comp,(averatec laptop) but there are lots of info on my comp how do i recover them w/o switchin on the comp....help

I have to make several assumptions to answer this.
The best way to recover information from a laptop hard drive is to attach the laptop hard drive to a USB to IDE adapter with a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter and plug it into the USB port on another computer. This will allow you to access the files as if it was just a jump drive.
USB to IDE adapters can be found on e-bay. Make sure you get one with a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter included...
