Through the national program, Call2Recycle™, the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation (RBRC) can help you recycle your used portable rechargeable batteries and old cell phones. Rechargeable batteries are commonly found in cordless power tools, cellular and cordless phones, laptop computers, camcorders, digital cameras, and remote control toys. RBRC recycles the following battery chemistries: Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd), Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH), Lithium Ion (Li-ion) and Small Sealed Lead* (Pb). RBRC is dedicated to keeping rechargeable batteries and cell phones out of our nation’s solid waste stream and preserving natural resources.

The more you fast-charge things, the more you "age" the appliance battery. It's better to let the thing die right down, and do a full charge. It should say that in the instruction manual. In an emergency, yeah, but I wouldn't make a habit of it. The batteries die soon enough as it is, and they cost too much to replace, say, in a cordless drill, so you're better off to just buy a whole new one after that happens. Built-in obsolescence keeps the economy going, so it seems...

The DeWalt XRP is a nice tool but the batteries are almost always the first to go. Get a Rigid drill which has similarly qualities to DeWalt and LIFETIME warranty on batteries.. It is too bad that you can't get any money for your old batteries
