Try "gifts in a jar". You can put together all kinds of things for less than $5 and they will look great and show some thought and care.
Layer the ingredients attractively in the jar. Top with a piece of decorative fabric and a ribbon. Include the recipe.

Basket from the dollar store with microwave popcorn, cup of soup, and a couple cans of soda. You can get shrink wrap at the dollar store too. Use a hair dryer to shrink it around basket.

I use the basket idea for lots of people.

A nice plant, I've seen minature rose plants for $5 at a
nursery or how about a rubik's cube. I've also seen those flip games on carboard for $2 that would be some silly fun.A large print crossword puzzle book. Go to a toy store
you can find neat stuff for your $5.

yet you reported priced btween 5$-10$ i dont imagine a hollister/aero present card are in a position to purchase a lot at 5-10. perchance purchase some thing like some rings or rings from kohl's, belk, dillards, macys, and so on. or possibly a e book?

Get her a holiday themed from the local dollar store and fill it with instant coffees and hot chocolates. Every college kid likes their coffee (I know, I'm one!). There are a lot of really cool instant drinks out there, and the one's you don't put in the mug, you can try out!

you can get good stuff at a local dollar store--- you can usually get a cute gift bag, tissue paper, and still get some other things for $5. she may appreciate stationary, pencils, etc
