We have a Pfaff sewing machine that is years old (not sure how many). It had an embroidery attachment that no longer works and have been told it can't be fixed. There are a few other minor glitches and we are wondering if it would be worth fixing or how much it would be worth as an antique. It is a System 130.

I'd get a second opinion on whether it can be fixed. Was the repair person affiliated with a dealer? If so, they may have had an interest in trying to steer you towards getting a new one. If you can find an independent repair person, you may be able to find it's repairable.

Then again, the new machines are really nice. I have a 6-year-old Pfaff Tiptronic and it has made me a lot of money.

Pfaff sewing machine mechanisms, as well as a number of other big-bux brands, are made by the Brother factory. when they do quality control testing, the best ones are given the Brother name, and the ones that are just ok are given the other brand names. Brother sewing machines will cost 1/4 the price, and be higher quality.
