I think #3 is best. It seems to be the most relaxed atmosphere. But I might nix the movie/DVD. A first date should allow for as much conversation as possible; you're trying to get to know each other, right?
Unless it's WS?, of course, in which case we'll just bang like a couple of et cetera.

It all depends on how well you like the guy.
Cook dinner together, sip wine, watch movie at home.
You can really get closer to a guy that way !

probably drinks and a movie. less pressure on both of you and yet you are able to get to know each other while having drinks. there's also less expectations. with a fancy dinner you can end up feeling obligated to repay them (especially if he pays)...... with cooking dinner that would be a great date after a few dates 'cuz it means bringing him/her into your place (which some people find kinda too intimate and tends to have some expectations to it).

Dinner then dancing. Gotta work off those calories. Don't like movies on a first date because you can't talk, and I would never let a guy into my house on a first date.

Fancy restraunt/dancing. Did that for our first date, now been married 2 years. Actually, we did go to a movie afterwards as well. Great date!
