When my children were 18, 15, and 12 I gave birth to our 4th child. I had been on birth control pills for 11 years when I conceived. After that many years on the Pill, I never missed one, taking them was just part of my routine. I also had not been sick nor taken any kind of antibiotics. The pregnancy was such a surprise to me and my doctor (she initially diagnose my stomach pain after eating as Irritable Bowel Syndrome) that we didn't find out I was pregnant until I was 17 weeks along and my doctor was giving me my yearly physical exam. She had no explanation for it. As my visiting nurse said, "I can't believe you got pregnant after all those years on the Pill. Your ovaries must have been about the size of a pin head!" But, that just goes to show that there is nothing 100% effective at birth control except for abstinence. It gave my kids a good life's lesson. Our oldest daughter is now 27, been married for 4 years and is expecting our first grandchild in April.

Me! I had my freaking tubes tied last year, and guess what? Surprise, I am now 18 weeks pregnant. My partner was considerably less then thrilled and I am now faced with having to go through an adoption. The doc used the clip method on me, which I now read has the highest failure rate. Something I was NOT told about before. Gals, if you have this op, make sure the doc actually cuts and TIES the tubes. Do not go with the clips!!!

I had been on oral contraceptives for almost 6 years when I found out I was pregnant. I was on Triphasil (generic form is Trivora) for five years without any problems, before my doctor switched me over to Yasmin about December of last year. I found out back in August that I was pregnant and am currently 27 weeks along.

I got pregnant while on the mini-pill. My baby died at 8 weeks and I didn't start to miscarry until I was 13 weeks. It was not a fun experience.
