I'd recommend to take the suburban rail service (either line S1 or S8 - S1 passing the west, S8 the east of Munich). It's the most convenient way to get to the centre: it's much faster and cheaper than a taxi (especially in peak hours), and the trains leave more often than the airoprt bus which still costs more.

I'm not sure how much the taxi is, but I know they introduced a flatrate for going downtown a while ago. Perhaps you should just ask at the information desks and then decide.

Best choice would be to buy a single day pass for public transportation: it's € 9,60 (~13US$) and you can use it in the entire network throughout the day. Transfer takes around 40 min to the main station or the city's central place "Marienplatz" (both important hubs for public transport - tube, tram, bus, suburbans, taxi). There you can easily find a taxi to your hotel, etc
If you are with someone else, choose the partner day ticket (€ 17), you can use it with up to five adults and as many children you have! In Munich you can buy the 3day pass (€ 11,80 single; € 20 partner - but only for the inner circle/city area)

Have a very pleasant stay in Munich & Herzlich Willkommen! =)

About 25 to 30 dollars, I think I paid last time. It depends if you are comfortable with getting around on the subway...I am usually wrecked after a flight and don't want to figure out anything so I take a cab, but do take the train on the way back out to the airport. Wish I were going it is a great city...

The train service is excellent - it will take you to Munich Bahnhoff then get a taxi from there.

Get the Sbahn. The drivers on the Lufthansa shuttle bus work a scam and re-sell the tickets over and over.
