John Adams was the second president and he formed his group of Federalists to govern the people and he was the first president to occupy the white house to make it the base, however he was also a helpful hand with his strong beliefs in the formulating of the Declaration and certainly signed it. Thomas Jefferson were at opposite ends for John Adams was a politician and Jefferson was a Statesman, (all for one and one for all). They were allies and best friends later especially when problems arose from France and Adams was under diress from many threats on his life. Adams was the father of John Quincy Adams as well. Adams formulated many groups of Federalists with money to invest in the future of America from foreign governments for export and import, this helped this country survive economically but not politically. Adams and Jefferson both opposed the slave traders especially the Spaniard. It almost got them both killed.

He was the first U.S. Vice President and the second President. He was the first to live in the White House. He was one of the creators and signers of the Declaration of Independence. His most notable accomplishsment, as President, was to avoid a war with France, while maintaining American honor and strengthening America's position among the nations. A believer in centralized government, he also oversaw the strengthening of the Federal govenment. Adams also created the Department of the Navy.

He was the driving force for independence in 1776, as Thomas Jefferson wrote, the "Colossus of Independence." It was his writings that helped defined the core of republican values that set the core of America's political value system: the rejection of a hereditary monarchy in favor of rule by the people, hatred of corruption and devotion of duty.
