No, they have lives just like everyone else. However, I've had several professors who have really hard times controlling their kids and they are psychologists.

Also, I have to disagree with saying that they have "all the answers" because they don't, it's up to the client to help themselves, the psychologist merely guides/supports.

Perhaps a well paid psychologists has the resources to lead a lest stressed life and can afford the massages or the luxury of time away to unload the problems that people have come to him/her with - however ---I have some friends and acquaintances in the mental health field ,and honestly i think the pressure of have bad dumped in your lap allot of the time can wear on you - some of my friends in that field have had to take a leave of absence to regroup --and in an extreme case a girl i know (very professional out patient councillor...so I thought ) broke into my friends house and waited for him in the dark to come home SPOOKY - now see all of us even professionals can have a laps in good judgement or need some Help from time to time . I think when it comes to happiness ...we are all just human and everyone has the same advantage for happiness its just how or where we find it

I just want to say, this is probably the best question I've read all day. I have no earthly idea what the answer is.

If I had to guess, I'd go with - probably not!! Imagine hearing people whine and complain all day, and then the pressure of having to have the right answer all the time. What if you gave someone the wrong answer and they got all screwed up. Oh, the pressure!!!

Most psychologists tend to become neurotic and obsessive after a few years of listening to their clients. They are definitely not any happier, especially if they are Freudian psychologists.

I work in the social service field. Most of the people I work with have backgrounds of trauma that are more f-ed up than the clients we work with. Because of their own trauma, they decide to "help" others because they know what it is like and can be sympathetic. So they are bombarded with hearing about other peoples issues all day, but never dealing with their own issues. So the answer to your question is no.

NO
Most of the person that becomes psychologist want to help people because they were near to somebody with problems, most of the time they have more problems that we do.
But yeah they are happy because they have that feeling of love and gratitude that ppl give to them.
Pss
I want to become psychologist.

No, some of the most unhappy people I know are psychologists. I think in general they over analyze everything which can lead to unhappiness.

That profession has the highest suicide rate. Hey everyone can tell you how to live your life, having advice does not make you an expert. Read some of the answers on this forum.

I'll bet Dr. Phil and Robin fight like cats & dogs when the cameras are off.

It is easy to tell people what they should do in their lives, but it is impossible to be happy 100% of the time.

I have to say no because their job is to listen to people and give advice and although they can avoid complications in thier life they suffer others problems and after listening to them they cannot tell the story to someone else because it is against the oath that they take. And so they take others troubles and do not release it, bottling thier emotions sometimes.
