Personal belief can make things "real" is strong enough, and there are times I think I have had a whole regiment of guardian angels busy. In the end it's up to you, but it's comforting and fun to think the answer is "yes". And as the old Irish saying goes: "There's no such thing, but they're there, anyways." Even one of the most logical minds of his time, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, was fooled into thinking so by a bogus photograph, because photographs were thought undisputed "proof" . In origins, it could be wayward Inuit/Eskimos that drifted into the British Isles, or proof of long forgotten ancient contact between the continents with those of drastically shorter stature brought on by enviromental factors, or dwarfism in general. Most legends have a basis in fact or at least common cultural symbolism. So I would say if you want to believe in that, and it does no harm, enjoy your belief, just understand that you'll get some rude or surprised reactions from a lot of people.

The truly remarkable thing is that people can firmly believe in 'guardian angels' and then think that 'little people' are a fantasy. Talk about self-delusion...
In any case, you probably meant 'fairies' when you wrote 'ferries', right? It's unlikely that there are now or ever were any such being. There is simply no evidence of it beyond folklore and mythology.
As for guardian angels or indeed angels of ANY kind, it's pure wish fulfillment. Did you know that 60% of Americans believe in a heaven/hell, but 70% believe in angels? That means that there are people who believe in angels who DON'T believe in heaven/hell. Amazing, isn't it what people can convince themselves of if they want to believe desperately enough?

I definitely believe in guardian angels. I know I have one and know who it is. I learned this from a Cherokee Indian who is now deceased himself.
Some native American Indians are very psychic and have deep beliefs in things most other people don't.
I know some other Osage Indians and she and her daughters are very normal people and far from crazy. They have told me stories about the little people. According to her, she was scared of them and they were not really evil, but always playing tricks on them. She said she could always hear them outside her window at night. It gave me the creeps.
I had never heard of the little people before, but they definitely believe in them. I'd like to find out more about them myself.
