The best way to learn good English is to read--a lot. If reading English is difficult, start with any level of book that you can comfortably handle. Be sure to read things that you enjoy. There are some very fine and entertaining books in the juvenile section of the library. Get in the habit of reading any time you have to sit and wait by yourself, like at the doctor's office or in line for something.

Read, read, read, and you will pick up so much about the English language that you might otherwise miss. Another advantage is that people who read a lot also tend to write well.

Also speak in the English language as much as possible. Ask your friends to (gently) stop and correct you when you mis-speak and to demonstrate the correct way to say things. Then write those things down and practice the correct way to say them.

A decade ago to learn English, you had to attend costly English classes or purchase course material like tapes and books. Now you can learn English for free from the comfort of your home using the Internet. The BBC and the British Council offer a number of on line courses, which teach written and spoken English. You can also improve your English by watching television programs and reading English newspapers. For more information, visit http://tinyurl.com/qnzpt
