what cell phone service will let you select your own phone number?

I know that Verizon lets you pick what beginning numbers you would like your phone to start with, but they won't let you pick exactly what number you want. You can transfer an old number as long as the old contract is finished.

I know Cingular did do it, i had the option when i signed up for them two years ago (i didnt even stay a year, so i dont know about now), i know Verizon will let you pick to a certain extent, i all depends on the CS rep you get, if they want to go through the trouble or not. I do know T-Mobile does it, but they may charge a "Vanity Number" fee for doing it like the Landline companies do

In Canada we can have any number on cell phone as long as we own it. It could be Ur home, office or cell # from other company.
