They sell a device for about 10 dollars called a basal thermometer. With this you can take your temp every day and your temp varies the tiniest bit during ovulation every month so it will tell you the best days to have sex with your hubby. I've been told it helps to be romantic the rest of the month, but not have sex so as to ensure a higher sperm count for the peak days. Sperm can live for 72 hours inside a woman and an egg 24 hours, so it's important that you are having sex in that time frame to ensure fertilization.

Other factors:
Position: Man on top position makes sure more sperm stay inside vagina after ejactulation. Also, stay on your back for awhile after intercourse to allow them time to reach fallopian tubes.
Location: Sex in the shower or bath could naturally 'wash' out sperm, so best to have it on dry land so to speak.
Stress: Try not to make baby making a chore. Remeber your love for your husband, and sex is supposed to be fun! A stressful environment is not good for making sure the fertilized egg stays in place.

Best of luck to you and your hubby, babies are blessings!!

Everyone's cycle is different. There is a myth that woman ovulate 14 days after their period begins...but that is only an AVERAGE and each month can be different. The other thing is that sperm can live inside you for up to 5 days.... The only way to know is to know exactly when you ovulate. There are several ways to know and some are more effective than others. Some can only predict before ovulation happens and some can only predict that is has already happened. The absolute best info I can give you is to go read a book called Taking Charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler. It will help you understand your body and all the myths about it. It will help you time when you are ovulating and the best times to conceive – or not! . It's about knowing your body and knowing when you are fertile or not. My husband and I tried for 1 year and had no luck..… We tried ovulation predictors , laying with pillows under me for 20 min. everything……the first month that I began using the book I realized that my timing was WRONG!. We got pregnant that very first month and I am now due Feb 2, 2007. You can pick and choose what you do with your info. Good luck and don't listen the all the myths! Even if you don't get into charting and everything....it will help you in so many ways!

STOP TRYING!

Yeah, I know that sounds stupid. But when couples set out to try and have a baby they tend to put a lot of presure on themselves and as a result of the pressure, they are less likely to have the baby they so desire.

This also puts undue stress on the relationship as well and can cause hurt feelings and a division.

When conception begins to take a long time under these circumstances, both parties may feel guilt and become self conscious. Your self esteem may suffer.

So stop trying. Just enjoy each others company the way two people in love are supposed to be doing and put making a baby out of your mind.

As long as everything is functioning proper for both you and your husband, you'll be pregnant before you know it.

you don't. Most women take up to a year or more to get pregnant. I had tried for 3 years and 2 months before I finally conceived. If you try for OVER a year, your doctor will see you and test you for some infertility things and possibly put you on meds. Good luck though. Oh, and try using ovulation predictor tests and also CHART YOUR TEMPS. It's the most effective way to know when you're ovulating. Like I said, I tried for years, then 3 months after charting my temps it finally happened. If you have any questions about this, go to

Frist figure out when yor are ovulating...then have sec EVERY OTHER DAY NOT EVEY DAY it lowers his sperm count if you do it every day. Then aftersex do not get up right away have a rule that you stay in bed with a pillow under your hips...you can do this while your having sex to it's helps with the gravity...and lay there let gravity do it's thing. Don't have sex in water or standing up. Good luck HAVE FUN!

Gravity helps during the act, beyond that it's just a question of your personal morality choices, such as if you care who the father is, risks you are willing to take, your age, health and habits (alcohol, illegal and some prescribed drugs, caffeine all work against sperm). I expect you'd better examine if you want to make it "quick" or if you should think about what this is going to mean in regard to the rest of your life?

Right. Wish it were that easy, but it isn't always.

Only a 24 hour period a cycle (provided you have no other issues and are ovulating with no problems) to become pregnant and even if timed right, you only have like a 20% chance or something like that.
