How would you find out if they had a myspace account

I'm sure this scare has been escalated more than necessary. Can you really see a university looking up the myspace accounts of all of the thousands and thousands of applicants? I was also told in college that they do this to job applicants. Probably true to an extent...but, I'd be more worried about you're parents looking it up! That's the most likely!

I'm sure it's not true, but I am also sure that they read up on people via "googling" them, and checking facebook, myspace, youtube, etc. As are potential employers.

I doubt that is true, but I have heard that they are looking to see what prospective students declare about themselves on that (and similar) sites.
If I were in their position or about to hire someone, I would do the same.
