I would have to say if the school has a dress code it has to be followed.
Personally I wont let my son choose his hair style until middle school, because he has not shown his maturity in making good decisions.
I think parents can be two sensitive on many levels and teachers can be as well. I find that the big problem is that parents let there children do what ever they want. The less the parents have to deal with the the more time they get to them selves. Now this is not the way all parents are but it is the key thing that disrupts the teaching. I do believe teachers have lost a lot of power in school and they need to get more power to discipline the children. They don't need to hit them but they do need more power to gain respect as a teacher.

Undermining teachers?
A parent has the right to do their best to protect their children, if you are a teacher and disagree with that perhaps you should look in the mirror and ask, "Am I undermining the parents?"

God has placed us in families for a reason.

The schools will not feed, clothe, protect, raise, etc. It is a means to educate you. Most of the school systems are doing a poor job. It used to be that teens would get in trouble for chewing gum or pulling hair. Today it is worse.
