I will be a first time mother and was wondering how you managed your pain after a c-section and also breastfeed? I am getting closer now and dr has told me because I am so short and the baby is so big I will have to have a c-section.

There have been short women for ages and ages.... No c sections.... Whatever you do, DO NOT let those nurses give your baby a bottle or pacifier! PUT IT IN WRITING! I cannot stress this enough. That is what happened to me during my c section. My baby never would nurse. Please put it in writing it is very important. Pain is managable. And your baby is immoble at that age so you can be to. Just have everything bedside when you get home and keep her in your bedroom with you. That is what I did. Will you have someone there to help you? You need to try to have someone there to bring you food or anything that you may need. My hubby had to help me on and off the toilet for about a week. Showers are very painful mostly because you have to stand. Just whatever you do put it in writing no bottle or pacifier till you breastfeed. The baby will get nipple confusion and it will be hard to swich. Also the baby will be extremely tired afterwards because of the trauma and medication. Be persistant. Do not give up. The baby will eat when it is hungry. Do not let the nurses try to get you to supplement. Once again nipple confusion. Good luck to you and be very persistant. As much as hospitals want to pretend that they think breastfeeding is best. Most do not. Atleast not when it comes down to it. Be careful stick with what you want not what they want. And stand up for yourself. Remember you pay them not the other way around. Good luck

You will be given pain medications, so don't worry about that, the hospital knows which ones to use while you are breastfeeding. I would also recommend buying or making your own Boppie! It's a large pillow type thing that curves around your tummy and helps hold the baby closer to your breast and away from your C-section incision. Be prepared though that the uterine contractions cause by breastfeeding can be painful but are really helpful in getting your uterus back to it original size. Good Luck and Congratulations!

It is just a personal choice to breastfeed. It was hard to learn how to breastfeed but after the baby latched on properly it was smooth sailing. It didn't bother me at all w/ the c-section. I got a "boppy" pillow and made it alot easier to hold the baby. You can get the pillows I think at Target, Walmart, Kmart. Those kind of mass chain stores.

I had o have a unplanned c-area after going to eight one million/2cm. with out soreness drugs. yet they had already broken my water and gave me protasin( to make the contractions come speedier) hours in the past and m son does not come down in any respect. so with the intention to insure that there does not be any hazards with my son my physician had to do a c-area- Now as far as a c-area you do not experience any element on the same time as they are doing it ( in my case i purely felt faint rigidity) then until the epidural wears off the subsequent morning you do not experience something Now status up right away I say had to be the worst it took me 2 weeks to stand up prevalent returned different undesirable edge effect attempting to get your abdomen back flat- my son is very almost 2 and it hasn't happen yet, It take (real) women folk ( not those skinny bitches on television that have a lot of money) that have had c-area to get that tummy back because of the fact once you have a c-area they are slicing by using muscle and tissue it take it a on the same time as to heel even however you could properly be feeling properly a that is been some years because of the fact which you gave start you physique remains repairing that tissue Plus bear in concepts women folk who gave start of course dont could pass by using the same form of restoration which you due you basically adventure significant surgical operation

They will send you home with pain meds. Also, breastfeeding is just like it would be if you delivered naturally. They gave me tylenol 3 after mine and I took percocet in the hospital. These are safe while breastfeeding. Don't worry they won't let you go without meds.
