if its all cool and your just looking for a fun time out as friends....both pay your own share. if its going out on a date and you are really attracted to this guy, have him pay so he feels goood about himself.

Well, I'm of the belief that for a first date, it always should be Dutch. Always go prepared and offer to pay your part of the bill. If he truly insists, at least leave the tip.

My problem with the guy paying on a first date is that something is going to be "expected" of you later in the night, if you know what I mean.

And trust me, I've been out with guys like that before.

Be prepared to pay for yourself, but whoever asks the other out should pay for both. Offer nicely to pay for yourself, but if he says no, then graciously thank him and drop the matter. On the second date, though, it is nice to at least pay for the movie if he buys dinner, or at least some part of the evening. Again, if he says no, drop it.

HI,
If he asked you, he pays. If you ask him, you pay. You can offer to pay( so he doesn't think your a gold digger) If he says no, I will pay. Then let him. If you go to the movies, if he gets the ticket, you could be like hey I will get the popcorn. It is nice to offer, and the guy will feel like you like him, not his money.

I guess it depends on the situation - typically, the person that invites you pays, unless it was done only as a 'come with' invitation. For example, if I say 'hey we are all going to Chilis for lunch, wanna come?' that means each of us is paying our own way. If I say 'May I take you out to dinner?' then that means I am inviting you as my guest and I am expected to pay.

General rule of thumb.....if someone asks you out...they pay. If you were to ask a person out....you could pay or you could both decide to go "dutch" (pay your own share). I am all for womans' rights and such...but a man should pay, period. Unless you are treating for a birthday or other celebratory event.

If he asked you out, then he should accept responsibility to pay for the date. Bring money for your self just in case :)

Usually it is customary for the person who askes to pay. However, it is a different world today... offer to pay for your share, and if he says "that's ok I'll get it", then by all means let him get it.

When he grabs the bill ask him how much your food was and start pulling out your money. If he stops you and tells you that he's got it, let him pay.

Usually the person who asks pays, BUT! Bring your own money, just in case!
