I read an article in Reader's Digest and these two people made a living out of collecting bottles and such. They did have jobs but then they ended up homeless. They collect expired sandwiches and whatnot. They go to $2 swim night at the pool for a hot shower. They sleep with water bottles so the water doesn't freeze. They were humble and street smart. They just ran out of luck. They are far from lame. Good question.

There are homeless folks out there that had more than us at one time. I remember when Reagan got in office, the job losses was so tremendous that families were kicked out of their homes and living in their cars!!! It continmues thanks to the NAFTA and GATT agreement!! Now they check your credit report to see what rating you have before a person can even get a job, and if a person got laid off or lost their job and lost their good credit rating, then a job to get them off the streets is near impossibile. I will try to make this an issue election time and asking everyone else to do so too so that people can get out of a slump or even off the streets, so they should not look into your credit rating to determine job worthiness! There was a shelter that fed homeless and it stops at nobody, even Lawers that once were employed at a good firm, steel and other factory workers got hit the hardest! Their suffering is horribile. Thank God you have what you do. Hope you never lose it, will you become lame should you lose your job and can't pay your morgage and get locked out of your home before you can find another job?? I don't mean any insult.

its funny you asked that question, i have 2 opinions on that same subject:
1) if you were put there for some weird reason ( lose your job, fire, your building is put up for sell, etc etc etc. ) then i really feel for them and i want to help them out, i was homeless once or twice and i know how they feel. But on the other hand
2) if they are drug addicts or drunks or whatever and are too lazy to try to do anything for themselves, then i have NO mercy for them, they put themselves there, then thats where they should be WITHOUT any help what so ever. i know you think i'm rude in what i say , guess what you'll get over it remember this: Don't every ask a question, if you really don't want to hear the answer to it

I've gotten to know some of them here in los angeles. I used to feel sorry for them but they are a bunch of lame brains. Most of them have drinking problems and there is nothing you can do to help them. I tried to help my one friend. I found him a room and a job. It didn't last very long. He would come home drunk and get into fights with the other renters. Later he got fired and lost his job and couldn't pay the rent.
Another guy I know drinks all the time. His father has offered him money, a job and a place to live if he will give up drinking. He's been in rehab a few times but as soon as he gets out he starts drinking again. I no longer feel sorry for them and wish people would stop giving them money. If all of us would refuse to give them change they would be forced to stop drinking and get jobs.

Lame? Ah, no, that's not a word I would associate with a homeless person. A certain degree of misfortune and possibly mistakes can result in causing someone to be homeless. But, "lame" isn't one of those conditions.

Your post is laced with attitude.

I don't think homeless people are lame, as you put it. I think they are meek and humble and probably better than most of us. I also think that they are free. Peace.
