If anyone is interested, a private group called The National Security Archive is posting on its Internet site some of the hundreds of thousands of government documents it has collected on the scandal, including some about Gates.

After his role in Iran/Contra became known in 1987, his nomination to become CIA director was derailed, but Gates stayed on in government, survived the political bloodletting, was renominated by President George H.W. Bush four years later and confirmed by the Senate.

(yes that is an Iranian news source but sometimes to find a story, I have to go to foreign presses)

I don't have the link yet for the archives but will get my hands on them soon.

Do some reading first before you ask a question. I could teach a semester on the subject before I would allow a student to even ask a question. Do a lot of research before opening your mouth. Yours is not an Intelligent well thought out question. It is just an insult to a very great man Ronald Reagan. Your parents had very low priced gas during the Reagan years for many years and a good 15 year suppression of communism in south and central America because of Mr. Casey. And you don't even know who he is! That is why you should educate yourself a lot more before you ask a question designed to insult a great man. You can tell your commie professor I said so. Go get your worthless A from him.

Has everyone forgotten why Iran/Contra happened? The arms deal saved the lives of Americans in Iran.

Also, Al Gore laughed at Oliver North during those hearings when Mr. North said that Osama Bin Laden was a threat to our security. Does anyone remember that?

OH Come-On Bum, that never happened. Next your going to say GHW Bush and Oliver North were doing secret deals while Raygun was delusional with Alzheimer's.

Has the CIA conquered American Politics?

how much worse could he be than Rumsfeld?

And I think his open criticism of the Iraq conflict gained him his election.
