Yes, and it's absolutely horrifying. There was this one time where I was so tired that I kept drifting off to sleep, but I would keep waking back up every five minutes or so- or at least my mind would. I couldn't open my eyes, I couldn't scream (everything, even throat muscules that allow you to make sounds, are paralyzed), I couldn't do anything. And it happened about three times within a 20-minute span. I ended up being so scared that I ended dragging myself out of bed, and just staying up, because I was terrified that it would keep happening.

Theres a yahoo group for it called ASP-L where other people discuss the same experience. Worth joining to help you understand this. Sleep paralysis is more common than you think. Sometimes certain types of medication (blood pressure med for example) trigger episodes.

Yes, I took a nap in the afternoon and I could half open my eyes and see myself trying to move my arms and legs. I wanted to wake up but I could not. My eyes kept shutting. Scary huh?

It has happened several times but I only remember it happening during a nap, never at night.
