Kaiya is a very pretty. I love the name Kai for a boy. Kai would be a great nickname, it's Hawaiian for ocean. You could pair Kaiya with Nami (Nah-mee), which is Japanese for wave.

Kaiya Nami (ocean wave)~unique and beautiful

All you need to know is:

"Pronounced Keye-ah...YES....pronounced Key-ah....we had a dog named Kia!"

No matter how you spell it, it will be mispronounced. Key-as and Ki-yas were almost unheard of when I was born, but they're more common now, and I've never met one who gets their name pronounced correctly no matter how it's spelled. Names where you have to correct people's spelling and pronunciation are a raw deal.

If you have to, give her a thoroughly normal middle name, and don't make a fuss when she turns herself into 'K. Middlename Lastname.'

It is _not_ a name one wants on a resumé, serious piece of writing, etc.

I grant that things are different now -- in that it's a bit trendy. But trendy has its own problems -- lots of them.

It has also become a bit stripper/porn-star-ish.

Given the fondness for making 'key-a' out of any spelling, beware the association with the cars and the mobile phones. "IKEA, Swedish for (insult here) sense" and even weirder teases will show up, I assure you.

Oh, and pot. See the Bob Marley album/song 'Kaya.'

That's what my 3 yr old used to call her older sister when she was younger, but her actual name is Kavya. It means 'poetry' in one of the Indian languages.
