When writing a science research paper using MLA format do you need to write an introduction and conclusion paragraph and how many body paragraphs are normally used?

ANY research paper you write, should be in MLA. It's standard, if that's what you're asking. With the exception of any psychology paper, there is a certain format you're suppose to use for that, that is easier than MLA. I forget what it's called though. Talk to your teachers and ask them.

Yes, an intro and conclusion are called for. How many depends upon your instructor. I used one paragraph for each in my course, and got a B. It just depends o how you are able to lead into your next topics. If you need two paragraphs for an intro or conclusion, use two.
