Ask your Doc again. Tell to really take a look. Thrush isnt REALLY bad but it's REALLY difficult to get rid of. They will prescribe "nystain" but I used that crap for 2 months and it wasn't going away until another DR. Told me to take Acidophilus (the same stuff found in YOGURT) and put it in babies milk...THIS IS TOTALLY SAFE TRUST ME...but ask your DR first. You can find it @ the health food store in the freezer area.
My sons thrush never spread to his gums or cheeks it was only the coating over the tongue! And had I waited any longer it probably would have. He was about 3-4 weeks when I told the Dr. I thought it was thrush because it wouldnt go away. I told the DOc when he first started to exam baby for his check up then he kind of brushed it off then @ the end of the appointment I brought it up again and said "what about the thrush" and he was like...oh I'll prescribe "nystatin" They are the oral YELLOW drops you give ver 6 hours. 1 MIL in in each cheek.
The problem is i BREASTFEED...So I didn't give bottles but this stuff is SAFE So I got myself Tablets that were like little strawberry candies and before I knew it his thrush was gone. My son is now 5 months and thrush FREE!
Boil bottles and nipples often. Then after 2 weeks throw the nipple and any pacifiers away and get new ones...do that until the thrust is completely gone otherwise you'll just reinfect.

I recommend getting a second opinion. Sometimes thrush can be just on the tongue before it spreads to the gums and cheeks. Go ahead and boil her bottles and nipples on a daily basis til your positive, that way when you get rid of it finally it won't easily come back. Keep wiping your daughters tongue with a baby gum cleaner and using the water. In a few days you'll be positive...Good Luck

Get a second opinion. Ask them to do an oral scrape. My son had thrush and it didn't wipe off at first, either. I caught his really early and it was only on his tongue, but there were only about 5 raised spots. Doc gave me generic Diflucan (fluconazole). It is used to treat yeast infections, which is what thrush is. It also helps to dry baby's mouth out after eating. If you are breastfeeding, it can pass to your nipples. You should also put a capful of bleach into a couple cups of very hot water and soak all of his bottle nipples and pacifiers, and then wash them with warm soapy water.

my son had thrush at about the same age!! It too was only a white coating..and as soon as the doc gave me the medicine drops for it he went back to his normal self..sleeping eating an pooping!!! I'd get a second opinion because it sound like thrush to me ..especially if she's not eating right..milk residue wouldn't do that ! GOOD LUCK

My son's all had thrush on their tongues a week before it spread to their cheeks. I would go to the doctor and ask for some liquid nystatin. It's always good to have some just in case it comes back later.

Wait a few days and see if it spreads...when you see raised patches of white cheek-flesh....you will know it is thrush.
Think: was she on antibiotics lately? Were you on antibiotics, and you breast feed? If yes, it could be thrush as well.
If she is bottle fed...switch her slowly to a soy based baby formula. She may not tolerate "milk" well, and her tongue would be the first to tell you this. Als check if the bottle-nipple is latex...some babies are allergic to latex!
Babies to not like things done to their tongue, if she will let you, use a wet, warm washcloth to try and wipe some of the coating off her tongue....if it comes off...it is not thrush.
Best wishes!

sound like thrush. My daughter had it on her tounge only, but then the yeast spread to a diaper infection. Look foor redness in the diaper area also. Any pharmacy should have Gentian Violet. Its messy, but OTC and helps. only like $2 also. Some pharmacies also have a few alternitives for OTC.

Usually, thrush is heavier than just a white coating - it is actually slightly raised and has a slightly rougher-looking texture than the toungue.
Maybe you should take her to a different doctor and get a second opinion.

If you really do think it is thrush get a second oppinon. It is your kid not the doctors. Mommy knows best and if you gut instinct is telling you something then listen to it.
