I've heard some people say that homosexuals shouldn't raise children. Mary Cheney is planning on raising her child with her partner, whom she calls her wife, even though they can't legally get married. I was wondering if anyone thinks she shouldn't be doing this. Please give me some reasons as to why not.

Some people are going to say that, despite all of the evidence to the contrary that children raised in gay homes are perfectly well-adjusted and well cared for. All of the following have investigated gay parenting and come to the same conclusion - no harm done, and in many cases the children exceed their peers' performances in school and in their life goals. It seems a home filled with love and geared to pursuing the best education possible trumps a home filled with negativity and prejudices every day of the week. That applies to ANY home, heterosexually or homosexually orientation based. The "facts" provided by those opposed won't be much different than those they present against gay marriage. Biased links from church-based websites and organizations using "doctors" opinions and statistics that have been trounced by responsible unbiased medical and social sources.

while i have no problem with it, the fact is that many of the same people who have fought against gay marriage also stand against gays and lesbians adopting kids or even their own flesh and blood children.
What is their feelings on this issue? Should the same stand for Mary Cheney? Why are all the Anti Gay people being so quiet on this issue? Why are the Antis so against the average person doing this, yet when it comes to a Cheney they are silent on the issue?

No. I'm sure she and her partner conceived that child because they wanted to be parents...they both have every right to raise that child together. Marriage is a legal institution decided by the government..it is a only a piece of paper as far as this situation is concerned..Many gay couples raise children with much love and care (something that is much needed in this society)..

Conservative Republicans are going to keep their mouth shut on this thing. They don't want to offend the Bush administration. Personally, I think if she and her wife love that child, will give the proper upbringing then for me is okay. There are many gay couples who raise children and they're fine.

Given the number of children in this country that need homes, I am all for gay adoption. I don't care what your sexual orientation is - if someone will provide a safe, stable, loving home for a child in need, it shouldn't matter.

I remember being just astonished when I lived in California...they were trying to prevent whites from adopting minority babies. WTF?!? Who cares what color they are? It's sad when our society worries more about things like this than the actual welfare of the children.

IT'S NOT NATURAL FOR A CHILD TO HAVE TWO MOMMIES OR TWO DADDIES. THINK OF THE RIDICULE THAT THE CHILD WILL HAVE TO ENDURE DURING HIS CHILDHOOD. KIDS CAN BE VERY CRUEL WHEN IT COMES TO TEASING OTHER KIDS.
