People who control others may be jealous or inadequate in others ways; they have to compensate for something so they control others.

It's just part of 'human nature'. It feels secure to have power. It feels good to have control.

So that leads to my take on what creates the need to dominate and control--insecurity and fear of threat. "I am only secure and unthreatened if others are just like ME." And since being gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered is not "like ME" and threatens what I feel comfortable with, it's to be controlled, criticized and condemned. It's threatening to my limited, narrowly-focused inner security of what is right and what feels normal.

It's like religion. It feels safe and secure to be a part of a group that tells you how to believe. It feels safe and secure to think that what you believe and how you live is going to give you security, importance and a "special place" here and later. The Mormons think they have the truth; the Baptists think they have the truth; the Jews think they have the truth; the Muslims think they have the truth........so it's important to criticize and dominant any other religion that threatens what gives me a self-defined focus of comfort, security, belongingness, meaning....and POWER.

So.........you live your life. Your business in your business (as long as it's not damaging someone else, of course). And make sure you surround yourself with others just like you--who will love you just as you are, support you just as you are...and leave the rest behind. They will always be there.

People who need to control others often are lacking some measure of control in their own lives.

They try to. But in dominion, there has to be a dominant and a subservient. So they can rant and bash all they want, but as long as we don't give up our fight and bow down at their feet, we are not being dominated, we are merely oppressed.

Because they can.

That's actually it. They big themselves up by doing it and they get off on the replies.
