There is another book following that which is 3001:The Final Odyssey and the same question applies: Will it ever be realized as a motion picture film?

I've read both, and I'd pay to see a film version of either, but I wouldn't count on it happening. The later books didn't have the commercial success of the first two, and the "2010" movie wasn't exactly a box-office bonanza, so I doubt that the movie companies are in any hurry to film the others.
My favorite quote, almost a motto, is from A.C. Clarke;
"In all the galaxy, they had found nothing more precious than Mind."

they want to do movies of both 2061 and 3001 but i have heard arguments that it would be hard to do after 20 years since 2010.

ok they made 2001, 2010 which was great with roy sheider (blue thunder) now i think, with today's special effects, they should make odyssey 3. im curious as to what happened after there are 2 suns. Roy Scheider should star in it. it would make one the best sci-fi movies ever made.
