If it isn't banning guns, why are some people against controlling who we sell them to? There are limits to free speech (libel, slander, yelling fire falsely in a crowded theater) ther eare restrictions on the death penalty ( can't be cruel or unusual) there are restrictions on abortion, restrictions on voting, restrictions on arrest, etc...why the problem with gun restriction?

All speech is NOT covered under free speech. And I believe in the second amendment. And I believe in responsibility and accountability

It is who the restrictions are aimed at that is disturbing to many . Once we give up our freedom of the right to keep and bare arms in an effort to safe guard America ,we lose the right to defend our self's from the growing police state which is taking over America .
Who ever said that if I am doing nothing wrong I have nothing to fear from my government looking over my shoulder .
The 1% of criminals that live among us a re less of a danger then becoming a police run state .
DO we want to live like Israel does .
They mentioned on the news how the people went into their bunkers during the attacks .
They have built under their homes bomb shelters to protect themselves from attack . They have given away all their rights to freedom in an effort to control the so called violence they face .
In reality the check points searches and police use this to intimidate Palestinians and to ultimately remove them from the land Israel wants to take over as the God given lands described by there own texts .
When the police no longer have anything to fear from the people we will be at the mercy of our government and that I can not accept .

Many people have a problem with gun control because they consider it an infringement on rights protected by the 2nd amendment of The USA constitution (Bill of Rights). Basically the 2nd amendment states "... the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed...." and controlling guns will go against this amendment. If you remember your 6th grade education, you should know that this amendment was made because there were restrictions on weapons for everyone except British solders and to be able to revolt again, if necessary, the founding fathers included the 2nd amendment into the Bill of Rights. In the Constitution or Declaration of Independence (i don't remember which and if you really care enough you can research this later,) ther is a line that says something along the lines of "..if the people find this government they are free to change it either by vote or by revolt..." (keep in mind this isn't a quote, this is just how i remember what my teacher told us in 6th or 8th grade.) for more info check out: http://www.guncite.com/

Gun control is limiting the population from having a revolution.
Congress has the ability to overturn an election if they don't like the results.
The citizens have the ability to shoot congress if they don't like the results.
Gun control has nothing to do with duck hunting. It is a Constitutional check and balance.

it limits law abiding citizens from the right to keep and bear arms, criminals by definition will not be affected by such laws, since they are by definition law breakers, and will get their hands on many ugly weapons via the black market, which by definition is not restricted by legislation. Gun control is a de facto disarming of the victims of crime, and does nothing to disarm criminals.
Violent crime in concealed carry districts is cut in half. if you were a criminal, would you rob a house where your potential victims have a great access to firearms, or a district where access to firearms is limited? the criminals opt for easy victims.

Gun Control is hitting the target that you aim at!!
When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.
Would you break into my house thinking that I might have 10-15 guns??
Or woould you rather break into the neighbors house which is known to have no guns anywhere???
We as Americans, need to make a firmer stand of our RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS!!!!!!
This is the biggest problem that I have seen from our government.

And there are also restrictions on how to use guns. But restrictions on owning them are simply crazy.

Because it infringes on our right to bear arms, just like all speech is covered under free speech. We have to take the good with the bad. And please leave us law abiding gun owners out of this. It is our right.

what is drug control? people can get them if they want them....laws for things that are legal just make it harder for the law abiding citizen to live their life. someone that breaks laws willl break anylaw.
and olcays answer can be shown to be obsurd real fast. there is a gun ban in a country in south america (dont remember which one) the criminals just resorted to using machetes for killings. now they are trying to ban machetes... whats next banning candle sticks. people who are goign to do harm will do it with something.
