Do you have an icon in the systray showing limited or no connectivity?
If so go to view network connections->right click the connection you are using and choose repair. It may be worth doing anyway even if these icons say you are connected. Then try tools->internet options and security tab->restore to default settings.
Are you using a firewall? You can try turning this off and connecting to the internet (only once though - Ensure you turn your firewall on again before using the internet properly) if this works then it is a problem with your firewall settings try re-installing and connecting again.

You only have to go to control Panel>Internet Options>Connections>Uncheck from "Never dial a connection" to set as default

In Internet explorer go to tools/Internet options/click on lan and check box to automatically detect settings. Close the browser and reload it. You may need to restart the computer

If it was ok before and nothing has changed on your machine it could be a problem with your ISP...btw, I'm assuming you are using another PC here.

uninstall the nic card.....reboot..............it will install itself ...if not do it!..............then try again.........
