Honey:
Never give honey to an infant, as it may contain the spores that cause botulism. An infant's immune system is not fully developed to fight off this disease.

Milk (breast milk and formula are okay)
Children under the age of 1 should not be given whole milk as it has been shown to cause low blood counts.

These all pose a very big choking hazard:
Whole Grapes
Whole Blueberries
Hot Dogs cut into discs (ALWAYS cut length wise into sticks)
Raw Carrots
Raw Celery
Apples

Other Foods:
Oranges (not good for their tummies)
Peanut Butter (wait until 2 or 3 due to allergies, ask your pediatrician)
Nuts of any kind
Chocolate

I wonder.......have you had the baby yet. If so dont you think that you should have thought about this first of all or at least looked into it!!!! If you are pregnant and are due to have it, then there is still time to discuss this with friends and family. They are the best people to be asking.

As you will have to take into account allergies etc, as these can be very dangerous to a baby under 1 year.

Believe me we nearly lost my Nephew who we found out had a very bad nut allergy, and still does and he is now 8. And on many occasion he has been hospitalised due to children just sat by him eating e.g peanut butter sandwiches.

It is very hard to say what they should and should not eat.

Just dont start feeding em McDonalds or Burger King.

Good luck with the baby (birth) You will be a perfect parent Im sure

They can eat. The best thing to do is start giving your baby pureed foods around 4 months, then increase the texture, amount, and variety. Although a child can live off of breast milk or formula the first year, it's best to introduce foods around 4-6 months. Some that you'd want to try at first are: corn, sweet potatoes, apple sauce, pears, peaches, squash, and prunes. Wait on honey, nuts, citric fruits, yogurts, desserts, firmer foods, cow milk, eggs, and meats until a child is 10 months to 12 months old. The slower you introduce, the better. Also be sure to test a food for three days before trying a new food. This way if your baby has an allergy you'll be able to indentify what food caused it.

Depending on the age of the child around age 8-10 months the child can start eating table foods(soft). Ages 4-7 months can have fruit and veggys twice a day(half a jar each or 2 ouces).

Cows milk & honey are the only things I can think of.
I gave my now 20 month old son boiled eggs & scrambled eggs from about 6 months. He was also eating peanut butter well before he was one and there have been no adverse reactions.
I never gave him apple unless it was pureed(actually he still hasn't had raw apple) for fear of him choking.

The doctor is the only person to advise you what your baby may eat under the age of 1.

They can eat a lot of the same things you can, just make sure to introduce only one food a week. Stay away from anything processed. Make sure everything is fully cooked, and soft enough that a baby without teeth can eat, and make sure the bites are small enough. Also I would stay away from things that are acidic, like citrus, they might upset their little belly. And one more thing *No Honey*

Things that they can choke on, like nuts or grapes. It's also recommended to not give babies under one peanut butter or peanut products.
