he only paid a total of 3 months within the year. he hasnt paid for the last 6 months i have no contact with him he has moved to alabama and back so many times i have no address or phone number to contact him to find out what is going on. i know he doesnt keep a job long i think to avoid paying but its adding up. will they put a warrant out for him? they started garnishing his wages but he gets a job and doesnt tell them he did. he only sees his son maybe once or twice a year. not because he cant but because he chooses not to he only comes when he buys him something for easter or christmas. then shows up unannounced and interrupts out family gathering. my son is about to turn 7 and doesnt really understand the situation. he only knows his father by his first name. my husband has been supporting him since he was 3 and thats the only dad he has known. since then he has only met his father 5 times. i have no knowledge on any laws or enforcements of child support any help would be great.

we were never married. my son had medicaid so the state called and asked me for his information that i knew and they found him. i didnt go looking for him in the beginning. the da's office wanted to find him since my son was getting financial help from the state. i only got one paper in the mail saying how much he was ordered to pay. i never really got much more info about it. just one saying he was oedered to pay and one that said he was the biological father. we never had to go to court about it because he didnt argue with them about it when they found him the first time. but last i heard he was working for cash. and his idea of a job was beind a wrestler for mid south wrestling. i dont know if i should contact the da's office that started it all or if i needed to contact someone else. i cant really afford a lawyer to help out on the subject.

The Louisiana Department of Social Services maintains a toll-free number for Support Enforcement Services at 1-800-256-4650. A representative there will be able to further assist you with your child support case. They have multiple Parent Locate services. Also, they will likely be able to assist you with filing an income tax return claim against your child's father with the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury.

Additionally, more information about child support in Louisiana can be found at the addresses listed below. Good luck with your dilemma!

If there is a court order for him to pay child support. Then he is in a lot of trouble. You need to go down to your local court house, with all the court papers, and tell them the situation. They will then issue a warrent for his arrest that pretty much says he didn't follow court orders (contempt of court) and he hasn't paid child support. They will then arrest him whenever. By they find him, this can take months to years(he'll probably only be in jail for a few hours once they do find him). Then they'll set up a arrraignment in court where they'll make him pay all the child support he owed plus every month by taking it out of his checks or etc. They'll also keep a closer eye on him. This is a situation that is now out of your hand let the law fix it By they way you can find him by searching the internet by his social or possibly name. Go to whitepages.com see if you see his name, then they'll give you the option to do a search on this person.

you need to file against him with the state attorney general. also, if he falls behind and stays behind they will hold his income tax refund, just happened to my ex, he filed in april and thought he was getting back $3000, but they gov. held it and sent it to the ag's office and I got the check in september. I live in Texas, but the ag's enforcement for support should not be that different, good luck.

Unfortunatly, this country is extremely lax about punishing this idiots. There is not much that can be done if he doesn't work or moves around alot. It's just a fact of life.

I'm not sure about policies in Louisianna, but in GA you have to contact the clerk of court for your county (your parish). It probably wouldn't hurt to contact your divorce attorney as well.

sounds like you need to go to court. they have the power to make him pay or put him in jail if needed. though you might give him the option of signing away parental rights so your husband can adopt your son.

yes eventually a warrant will be issued for his arrest. If he is ever stopped for speeding or any offense the warrant will show up.....probably only in louisiana though..... and he will sped time in jail.

My dad is on child support. He switches jobs often, and sometimes he just doesn't pay, and when he don't pay, my mom takes him to court. They will raise what he is supposed to be paying, and is he doesn't pay it he will be LOCKED UP

find a lawyer who can accuratly answer some of your questions and can advise you what to do and go from there. if you have to take him to court. there is no reason why a father shouldn't help take care of his children.
