We have the regular ones - like hauling out the same ornaments year after year - and the littlest family member putting the angel on the top of the tree. But - my sister - on Thanksgiving - positions the uncooked turkey in a stand-up position and makes it do a song and dance. She does it every year and everybody loves to see it. Do you have any odd Holiday traditions like that?

My family makes bread dough on Christmas Eve and then rolls it out into long snakes, picks one name out of a hat, and spells a nickname for that family member with the dough in cursive. But the nicknames change every year. The names are based on the year past and what has happened to that person. For instance, I picked my sister's name last year and spelled out the name "Flutey" for her since she had joined the band at school and learned to play the flute. My dad picked my name and spelled out "Lemon" since I'd had my newer car in the shop four times that year! Then we bake them and on Christmas morning, we guess which bread nickname goes with which family member, then talk about our year past. It's a great way to reflect and laugh about some situations that seemed serious at the time, but really don't matter in the end! Two years ago when my son was born on Dec. 4, my husband picked my name and spelled out "Mommy." It was a Christmas I'll never forget.

We have a few that are probably borderline funny...
- the annual lighting of the Leg Lamp (a la "The Christmas Story")
- We go out for dinner Christmas eve - It was Godfather's Pizza for years, now it is Outback Steakhouse. That part isn't too funny, but the funny part is that for the last few years, my mom and sister and I have each ordered a daqueri or pina colada (or two) with dinner - Dad is the designated driver - and then we sing along with Christmas songs all the way home... opera style...
- My sister and I, who are now 25 and 30 years old, are still prompted to put out the Coke and fudge (our version of cookies and milk for Santa) and we still have to go through the rather drawn-out process of taking pictures of us in our PJs hanging our stockings. Now we make Mom and Dad reciprocate - they have to put on their PJs for pictures hanging their stockings too :)
- My sister - ever since she was little - has never been able to sleep through the night before Christmas. She always has come into my room at 6am to wake me up and each year we swap who wakes up which parent. And for the past eight years or so, every year, Mom bribes us with money if we will let them sleep another hour. When we do get them up, Mom stays upstairs with us while Dad goes down to "see if Santa came" and he turns on the tree lights and the Christmas music and I suspect that's when he fills up Mom's stocking too.
- Dad falls asleep in whatever gloves he got for Christmas at around 9:30am and my sister and I pile on him so Mom can take that traditional photo.

Pretty idyllic family, eh? I think that's why there is so much humor in what we think of as normal.

Oh Yeah - We live in the country and put up a live tree every year. It stays up until New Years Eve. Then we haul the tree out the the annual sacraficial spot. At precisely 12:00 Midnight, we blow the tree up! (Usually using different types of Fireworks). Through the years, the methods of destruction have been quite imagitive and creative!

The Turkey Dance of Joy has been around for many, many years. Yes, we too, make this 24 pound, lump of plucked turkey dance on the counter top to Queen's hit, Another One Bites the Dust. We have done this turkey dance thing every year since I was a child, and I've done this for my kids who get up at 3-4 AM every Thanksgiving just to watch. Then of course, THEY went back to bed, whilst I wrestled with the beast. We also name our turkey, this year, it was Ernest...last year Balderdash, next year, who knows? Happy Holidays.

No, but now I wish I did - yours and teacup's are funny. We just share why we are thankful, or wish one another health for the coming year.
