Apparently some here believe he denounced conservative efforts to discriminate against gays. I must have missed that. He is for gay marriage? for equal housing and employment rights? against sodomy laws? for gay adoption? I missed all of that. All I can remember is how angry and embarrassed he and Lynne were when Edwards mentioned their gay daughter in debates.

Cheney stated he was against the anti-gay marriage amendment, but the President makes policy.

As an aside, I think it's funny that all the conservative talking heads who did their faux outrage bit over Edwards intruding on the Cheney family "privacy" about their daughter being gay are now devoting a LOT of time weighing in on the rights and wrongs of her having the nerve to have a child.

If I remember correctly, and I'm too lazy to look up links right now, Cheney excused himself from questions regarding same-sex marriage during the debates, only broadly saying he supported Bush's policies. It didn't amount to a denouncement, or a stand for same-sex marriage. It was a conflicting interests sort of thing. He didn't wish to stand up and denigrate his daughter, but he also didn't wish to take a stand against Bush and his policies. I think he found himself in an impossible situation when addressing this issue. I can't stand the man, but I remember noting this during the debates because I was very interested in whether he'd stand up and basically put his daughter in the cross hairs as some sort of second class citizen not worthy of her civil rights. As to now, I'm sort of amused by the Republican reactions to her pregnancy. I haven't seen so much squirming since Foley was exposed.

His daughter is a pregnant lesbian. Cheney has said he is looking forward to having another grandchild. That's fine by me, I don't think they were angry and upset, they had discussed their gay daughter several times before they decided to get 'upset' about it. I think they didn't want to discuss their daughters sexuality in public anymore because it is hard to justify wanting to approve of institutionalized bias for your own daughter. To be fair, I never saw a need for discussing any ones sexuality in public, but this was the post Clinton era, and being nosy was/is in.
But, I'm learning you can do what you want as long as you vote Republican.

Cheney is a hypocrite and a politician who is ever ready to abandon his country or even his family for his own personal gains. Why would he go out of his way to advocate for gay people....never mind the fact that his own daughter happens to be gay...when he can fatten his wallet by standing with the anti-gay, extreme right wing bigots?

The man has no conscience...maybe he has no heart that is human either.

your right. i just saw yesterday he and his wife are happy his daughter is expecting a baby. they said her partner will have no custody rights's to the child. she will if they go threw the right channels. i think they are embarrassed about it. but that is their child's decision. if they was not embarrassed about it, they would of not gotten mad at Edwards. i thought Kerry made the remark?
