Coldplay - they sound the same live as they do on their CD. They also covered Johnny Cash and the Flaming Lips. It was an awesome concert - very high energy.
As far as small shows go, I saw Local H at a small club in OKC. The cool thing about the concert was that when you walked in they handed you a play list and you voted for the top 10 songs you would like them to play. That was really interesting and was a cool way to get the crowd more involved. They also covered Toxic by Brittany Spears.
Best Unexpectedly good performance - Linkin Park
Best Artist that I had waited a long time to see - Metallica
Best performance that i never thought i would see - Aerosmith

What is the greatest concert you have ever attended, and why?
The Stones..do I really need to explain why?
Was it an unexpectedly good performance? Of course..Mick and Keef were there
Was it a performance from an artist you had been waiting a long time to see? Damn straight
Was it a performance you thought you might never get to see (i.e. reunion tour, etc.)? Yes, since they sold out in minutes the first time they came here..I never thought I'd be able to get tickets

It was a concert that billed Beastie Boys, Fishbone, and Murphy's Law. This was late 80s by the way. I was there to see BB but came away impressed with Fishbone. I have to honestly say they are the best live performance I have ever seen. There were a ton of people in the audience who had never heard of Fishbone. That may have been true but everyone there was "Partying at Groundzero" with these guys. They had total audience participation. I don't live in a huge concert venue area but Fishbone gave an awesome performance like they were in Denver, LA, Chicago. Since then, I have seen REM, Morissey, De La Soul(my other favorite live performance), Run-DMC, Fresh Prince, Public Enemy, and Tesla. None have been more memorable than Fishbone. And if you ever catch FB in concert, you won't walk away disappointed. They are still going strong after all these years.

Pink Floyd in Phoenix, AZ back in '93 I think. The concert was awesome. The crowd was awesome and so into the show. The light show was absolutely amazing. They had this big glass ball come out from underground (it was gigantic) and it opened up and starte spinning around and all these lazer lights were all over the stadium. Also during the song Money, they had speakers all around the stadium and you heard the sound of all the change coming from all around you. It was just a really good show...not to fail to mention the fact that Pink Floyd kicks ***!

Despite the Sting COncert, it was the Fabulous Thunderbirds.
First, it ws a small venue, (about 1000 people), so that meant it was very intimate and the band could feed of the energy of the crowd.
Second, that energy fed in a loop so when they did "Tough Enough" and "Powerful Stuff" the rafters were shaking, the bass thumping and strong lyrics got the crowd dancing like maniacs.
When I was done (soaked in sweat), I KNEW I had been at a concert!

U2 Zoo Tour in St. Louis. It was awesome! The energy level was unreal and I was in the 7th row. For the encore they emerged from this giant rotating silver egg. It was bad - a s s! The encore cheer was deafening. Also, the Edge played Sunday bloody Sunday acoustic. Talk about unreal...that concert actually inspired me to strive for human greatness and achieve things. Before I just didn't care too much.

I saw the Ramones and a band called Psycho Nurse years ago.( it was a birthday present from parents) It was amazing. The energy of the atmosphere was great. Their performance had no flaws. My friend and I had so much fun! Now that half of them are dead, I'm glad I had that chance to see them all play together.

John Fogerty with Willi Nelson opening this past summer.
I has just been complaining to my then fiance, now husband, that music today SUCKS when he got a call from his cousin that he had 2 extra tickets to the show at Jones Beach. It renewed my faith that there are talented people out there, not just a pretty face to sell an album.

NO NUKES CONCERTS in 1979. Not only did they have acts from Springsteen to Jackson Brown to James Taylor to Bonnie Rait to Crosby, Stills & Nash, they were concerts that promoted a cause and gave a big boost to an important movement!
