When will the US Govermant Pay African Americans Reperations for Slavery?

It is overdue, I am not saying send every black person a check in the mail but invest billions of dollars into the communities, by building better schools, recreation and youth centers, more access to comunity colleges, and more outreach programs to teach blacks personal responcibility.

Is this a serious question? Are you looking for a hand-out? Why would the government pay reperations to African Americans for Slavery? It's been over 140 years. At some point you get over it and move on and take responsibility for your own person. I am a white male who has the least advantages of any one group of people in this country. Because of programs like Affirmative Action and Illegal Immigrant laws, I am now at the bottom of the list as far as Uncle Sam is concerned. I should be getting the free handout. My wife and I work a combined 110 hours a week and we can barely afford to buy our 2 boys anything for Christmas because of the high prices of gas for heating our home, the cost of child care and the all out highway robbery we call income tax.

Before you start wondering, "When am I going to get mine?" maybe you should think, "I have everything I'll ever need as long as I live in the USA and with the governments help, I'll never need anything." Let "Whitey" have a turn!!

Who owes who what? My folks did not immigrate to America until 1905, way after slavery was done away with. Should some of my tax dollars go for your suggestion when my ancestors had nothing to do with it. Check history my friend, there are a ton of black folks who have made a ton of money going way back. They did it the same as successful people of other races, hard work and personal responsibility. Trillions of dollars have been spent on failed give away social programs that have bore little or no results to the extent that I was sickened to read of how bad it was.

Did the federal government ever own any slaves of African descent? I don't think so. So why are you in favor of a government who has never owned slaves, and whose revenues do not come from taxpayers who currently own slaves, to pay people who have never been slaves. Africans sold Africans to European and New England (British colonies) slave traders. The slaves were bought and owned by slave-owners in the Americas. Many of these slave-owners were also of African descent!

This is not the first time I have heard of this, but it is about the dumbest thing I have heard.

This question is rediculous. There are more important questions to be asked in this country today. Do you think black people are the only ones in poverty or need. Try this, if you are in a position to help someone do it and try the pay it forward program. I do it any chance i get even though I don't have much to offer. Make life about being able to help others when you can not about what you can get for free.

Seems to me they are already doing all you said. And then some. I know of no slaves that are alive today so why should those that have never known any of it get paid for it? Blacks are getting a lot more than white folks do in regard to the better jobs and such as it is the law. A black man and white man with the same qualifications come in and the black man will get it as affirmative action kicks in. Even if he is not as well qualified, he will get the job. Seen it many times.
