Sadly, yes it does.

When we meet people for the first time, they aren't seeing how smart we are, how kind we can be, how generous, etc... They see the surface. And they judge their first impression 75% based on that alone. As long as people have had clothing, they judged others by it. In history, people were told what fabrics and/or colors they could wear based on their class and standing.

It can be a form of self expression, so who we are on the inside is perceived as who we are by our clothing. If you wear a certain style, you get seen as being that "type" of person, especially if it's popular enough to have a label. Maybe it's intentional, maybe it's not.

What we wear can also effect our moods. Maybe a person has a favorite "power suit" for business meetings, or sexy heels for the bar. When you put something on, it can boost your confidence or depress you. Certain colors can cheer you up, other colors may bring you down. So we tend to grab what reflects our current mood when we get dressed, and the rest of the world can pick up the emotional vibe we are putting out, and maybe even be affected by it.

Doesn't make it right or wrong, just my opinions.

yes, it does. Try going to a job interview at a respectable place of business stylin' blue dreadlocks and bondage pants. Now, conversely, try getting a job at Hot Topic wearing a business suit. Both are going to judge you by what you are wearing. That's example 1. Example 2: when you are looking for a potential dating partner, you are going to judge them by what they are wearing, not because it's superficial, but because their clothes will give you clues at to what kind of a personality they have. Such as, if they are wearing a polo shirt and a khaki jeans, it's safe to assume they are a more preppy sort of person. Wearing ripped up jeans and a leather jacket, they might be more into a punkier type of lifestyle. You'll choose your partner based on a common interest the two of you share.

Yes! People see what you wear and make a judgment. If you are put together it is good. If you just through something on, people can tell and 1st impressions might think thats the lind of person you are. You don't need to buy designer clothes but looking good takes you farther in life. Like in a job interview.

It does if you're not a rich celebrity. Some of the things they wear would get some of us 'common folks' laughed off of the street if we wore it. I remember Jodeci started wearing a suit with black boots and the pants tucked inside the boot. If I did that, I wouldn't have heard the end of it.

It matters insofar as a first impression is usually formed by what a person sees when they meet someone. Therefore, others views of you are generally formed in your looks, including what you wear. At least until they know you as a person. Then, their first impressions can be modified, but will never sompletely be discarded.

I think that is your own choice. As sad as it is though are society bases so much on looks and the presentation of ones self/image.
