I will be 35 weeks pregnant on Sunday. I have been EXTREMELY uncomfortable for the past 3-4 weeks. The baby always seems to be sitting under my ribs. She seems to be dropping VERY slowly now but it's to the point where I can not sit down and be comfortable for more than 2 minutes. The baby is laying sideways I think, with her butt facing my left side and her feet out to the right with her head down. Does anyone have any suggestions to be more comfortable on a day to day basis, especially when sitting down? I just want to be able to sit down to dinner with my husband and enjoy a full meal without hurting so bad all the time. Thanks in advance for the suggestions!

AMEN!!! I too have the same problem. I am 35 weeks 2 days and my baby is also in an awkward position! The only thing I find to be comfortable is to recline my back so that I am stretched out a little more. Also, you can try laying on your left side for about 10 minutes then switching to the right for about 10 minutes...sometimes that helps to get the baby into a more comfortable position. Unfortunately, you are probably going to continue to uncomfortable for a few more weeks...Just keep telling yourself that you are almost there! :)
Good luck and Congratulations!

I am 37 weeks and really uncomfortable as well. I don't think it gets much better from here on out. You definitely can push the baby to get her in a more favorable position. I also found that sitting in a bit of a reclining position with my feet up helps. I really don't like sitting in a straight-back chair unless my legs are really far apart and I"m on the very edge of the chair with my back straight. DOn't worry, in a few weeks, this will all be a distant memory!

I am 34 weeks tomorrow and have been uncomfortable also. I try to sit in the rocking chair with a pillow behind my back and my feet on the glider. It seems to help a little bit. Also I can't eat nearly as much at one sitting as I used to. I have to eat a little at a time, just more meals a day. Good luck!

Doesn't that suck???? Is this your first one? I've noticed, though, that with this one (it is my second), I am more uncomfortable LOWER. My OBGYN said that with subsequent pregnancies (after the first one), your muscles are stretched out already so things tend to be a little lower. You always have that to look forward to!! LOL! OK, bad joke:)

It depends on the person, though, I would imagine.

I remember with my first (daughter), the last few weeks into my ribs were horrible. I was always leaning to one side over the other at times.

I don't know if I would try pushing on the fetus to try and get her to move......maybe try getting on all fours and rocking to see if she will shift that way. Sometimes by allowing for more room, they will do it.

Try a massage. Massage schools sometimes have special rates and can do pregnancy massages. It may ease some of the pressure. Try sitting in a warm bathtub just before dinner and sit on pillows at dinner. Or if you have a bar height counter and barstools, sit with your bottom barely on the stool. Sitting like that (with my bottom barely on the seat) is the only way I got through sex and church at the end of my pregnancy.

Try pushing on the baby (gently!) to try to get her to change positions...this used to work for me. Or you could try sitting with a pillow behind your back and your feet propped up, to take away some of the downward pressure.
