The first two Halloween movies. Jamie Lee Curtis and Donald Pleasance did great jobs. Plus it was unlike anything at that time.

Do you mean Halloween the series of Halloween movies or scary movies that you see during Halloween.
If it is the former, I loved the first Halloween & Halloween H20.
My favorite 80's scary movies are the campy ones. I loved Fright Night with Chris Sarandon, the first Chucky movie - Child's Play - also with Chris Sarandon (hummm, a thread?), and April Fool's Day. Also Lost Boys...but I can't remember if that was 80's or 90's. Poltergeist.
I like a little laughter mixed in with my fear.
I seriously dig scary movies that keep you on the edge with mind games, rather than gore. Like The Others. Like Sixth Sense (although that wasn't terribly scary, just kinda creepy). The Game with Michael Douglas.

my personal favorite in "The Shining" by Stephen King. I also like scary movies that get inside your head. Not those that just have bllod pouring all over. Those movies...you just know whats gonna happen at all times.
