Bluetooth is a frequency that devices use to communicate with each other. Bluetooth on cell phones are used to mainly connect to accessories like wireless headset, or even send information to each other. Now they have bluetooth printers, etc. You essentially can connect lots of devices without wires.

Bluetooth is a "protocol" or standard devised by Intel commonly used to have devices communicate with each other wirelessly (over the 2.4 Ghz band).
There are many cell phones that use bluetooth for wireless headsets, but also computers can use it for wireless joysticks and other devices.
