They get images from various sources. If a more detailed image is available it may be used even if older than an less detailed one. They try go get them updated every year or two.

I dont think the satellite map's are refreshed at all. It is all taken once stored in a database and retrieved. Refreshing the maps may be a thing done once in a year may be.

refreshing the maps are too expensive. too many pictures needed to be taken, so i don't think google is going to refresh it often.

Not often enough! They had our house off by half a block and the neighborhood down the block still barren where it has been built over...

not very often...you should use..Google earth...u can see all from a satelite...google Earth offers maps and satellite images for complex or pinpointed regional searches.U can download it from here..http://earth.google.com/downloads.html
