I have a 32 gallon fish tank with 2 plecostomus, 1 clown loach, 3 mollies, and a tiger barb. The trouble is I'll be on vacation for about 18 days with no one to feed them.

Can I just put a long term feeder in there, and make sure the filters are clean? Or do I need to get rid of them, and if so where do I take them?

ou can use a 'vacation feeder' if you wish, but your fish should be just fine for that time frame. Maybe try placing a live plant in also, one made for aquariums. Ask for one that your fish will like to eat. The plecos and loach will live off of the waste existing in the bottom of the tank already. The others will be OK too. You can give them a lil extra before your trip and feed again as soon as you return. Fish can go for quite a long time without food, they are scavengers by nature and will forage for food.

first of all you can go to a petstore and buy a automitac feeder it looks like a small filter read all directions and make sure its hooked up properly

I have a question for you how is your clown loach? the reason i ask is because clown loach dont usually live long when theres only 1 in the tank they are mush more active when theres 4 or more you should have enough room in a 32 gallon for at least 2 more clown loaches you will be happy with what the outcome is i promise the same with the tigar barb he will be much happier with a few friends and they are so little that they like to school so get him a few friends as well

there is no need to get rid of the fish just go to a pet store and buy one of the atomitic feeders they are easy to use as well good luck and have fun on vacation

Don't use those vacation feeders, they don't feed the fish properly and have been known to mess with the water params and people come back home to a tank full of dead fish. If you must use something then get an automatic feeder and use that for at least a week before you leave to make sure it works properly.

A couple of vacation feeders should be okay. If possible I would have someone come over at least once during this time just to check on them and make sure the food is okay. Otherwise they should be fine.

The sucking element must be a Sucking Loach, typically offered lower than the deceptive commerce call, chinese Algae Eater. this is going to finally strengthen and eat your different fish, and this can ensue only once you're lengthy gone. A separate tank for this you ought to be smart ASAP. Fish can go without feeding for two months just as long as they are fed well before.
Not sure about the filter though.

get week long feeders and have a friend come and plop new ones in the tank every 5 days or so. That should keep them fed. Make sure your tank is clean before you leave and well-balanced so they don't get sick. Also keep the light off to discourage algea growth and hunger.

I've used those food disks before and they work OK. If you don't have a really good filter, only use half. The Sucker Fish really like them though if they settle on the bottom they will attach to them so try to find the kind that float.
