I have two big beautiful blue eyed wolf dogs. I watched Disney's "SnowDogs" and I have been thinking about getting my dogs into commercials and print ads. I'd like to know what you think. Should I get them into "show-business"? They are very friendly and have been brought up from puppyhood with kids and cats. They are well socialized so I don't have to worry about that. (These wolfdogs do not live in a pen..they live in my house and can usually be found lounging on my couch or playfighting all over the house.) Please tell me if I should get them involved with this. I'd especially like to hear from owners who've had their dogs in "show business" before. Specifically, did the dog like it or not? (I would never want to get my dogs involved in anything they didn't thoroughly enjoy). Any feedback is appreciated. Here is a link to see my wolf dogs.

Sportmaverick, please re-read the post. They are VERY well socialized so crowds and people aren't a problem. You should see my place on any given Saturday.. lots of people! they love attention. They were raised indoors with people and not to mention many cats.

There is an on-going controversy regarding wolf-dog "hybrids" and the possibility that they will revert back to more wild and wolf-like behavior, regardless of how they are raised.
The vast majority of people who adopt wolf-dogs keep them for 3 years or less.
I would imagine that this controversy would make it very difficult to get them into show business, unless they have been nuetered/spayed and professionally trained by someone who specializes in wolf-dogs.

My friend had a darling wolf-dog, raised with young children and dogs and cats, but at around 2 years old it started to become aggressive and eventually got too bad to be kept as a pet. It might not *always* happen, but it certainly *can*.... not sure the show biz folks would want to take such a chance.

Absolutely. If they are mixed with another breed that has a gene for blue eyes, then yes a low content wolf dog can have blue eyes. The most common low content wolf dogs that have blue eyes are siberian husky mixes. And you are correct about the term 'hybrid'. Wolves and dogs are the same species, so calling their offspring 'hybrids' is very inaccurate. A hybrid is the offspring of two different species, and they are extremely rare.

Being friendly is not enough. They have to be able to perform on command no questions asked.
