I have always wanted a duck ever since I was little. I had one but my brother killed it. My friend had one for his duaghter and they loved. Not alot of mess and really low-maintanence. I have been looking everywhere in the DFW area. I found one place but the ducks looked sick and not very healthy or clean. I found another place in Mesquite, TX but the man was rude and evertime I asked a question he would look at me mean. I asked him if he could put a duckling aside for me so, but he said No. So if anyone knows anyplaces in the DFW area, I would greatly appreciate it.

I would go to the state fair, I think it is in Dallas. I have never been to the state fair, but if it is in the DFW area that would be one place. A local FAA student at a high school can help you out also. Try a local shelter that specializes in farm animals. I know of a couple of shelters down here in Houston have had chickens and rosters, so a shelter might carry a duck or two. If all else fails, go to a park with a lake and snatch a duckling/gosling.

Some farmers can be a pain in the a$$. If you are really serious about a duck pet consider getting at least two. They should have a tight pen so the damn neighborhood dogs and coyotes don't eat it..Go and talk to your local veterinarian. He should be able to put you on track..Two or more ducks or more are no more trouble to maintain than one..

Try www.petfinder.com. They have lots of adoptable pets. You'd be getting a duck, and possibly saving a life! Just make sure you have the right setup and know how to care for a duck before you get one, such as what to feed it, where it will live, and where will you get the supplies. Have fun! :)

Most farm stores make you buy the ducklings in lots of more than 10.

i would say go and find a duck egg, because that way when it hatches if you're right there it will bond to you. if it's still young it won't follow you around and it will probally be distressed without it's mother. if you hatch the egg yourself and are there when it hatches, then it will see you as it's mother and follow you more than a dog.
