One of my client invited me to a Christmas get-to-gether at their house. I was not asked to take anything but as a good gesture, what kind of gift should I take?

When these situations happen, a bottle of nice wine, something on the sweet side is appropriate...Wrap the bottle nicely or you can pick up a wine bottle fabric bag ( would be with gift wrap or may be on display with the wines). It might be a nice gesture to bring a simple cake as well, like a nice Pound cake. The cake and wine are simple gifts, but will be a very much appreciated gesture on your part, without the need for you to go overboard.
Happy Holidays!

An assortment of nuts on a holiday platter that can be used each year, a christmas cd, wine is always nice, but cant be shared if the gathering is large. I would try to think of something that can be used every christmas to keep you in the clients thoughts each year

I think one of the most traditional and appreciative gifts still today are Poinsettias... When we go visiting this Christmas season we always take one to give to the hostess. It seems to be a nice gesture, especially when you have no idea what to get.

If you knew they were into Wine.. or something particular you could always go the distance... but when in a jam... Poinsettias are the way to go if you ask me.

A bottle of wine
A gift basket with something like these in it:
chocolates
muffins
smore's making kit
coffee
Anything you think your client might like. You can't go wrong with a gift basket. You can even make it yourself if you don't want to but one of those ready made ones.

What you need is a good host/hostess gift. A bottle of wine, a plant, a bouquet of flowers, a nice Yankee candle... etc. You could also bring a home-made treat instead - like cookies or quickbread.

Usually a fruit basket or (if you know your boss is into wines) a good bottle of wine.

Flower bouquets are always a safe, elegant gift.
