Rakasin your answer must give any decent person hope .that their are people with morals left most of the answers here show how little justice and humanity is left in the world I don`t say terrorism is right for any reason i am against the taking of any life but how these people can point the finger and pretend to be some innocent victim is beyond me These civilised Americans were out on the streets funding terrorism in the UK not so long ago and supplying the IRA with weapons when they were planting bombs all over the uk,killing innocent people But that wasn`t terrorists was it ,it was for freedom fighters and what was the slogan "buy a bullit kill a brit " I need someone to point out the difference call me stupid but to me it seems like one and the same thing

Everybody is against terrorists. However, most of us do not ask why do they fight, Maybe they have been supressed for centuries or just decades and then aggression grows. Bush and Blair think that they are angels and peacemakers however when one looks at Afganistan or Iraq we cannot see their good action. Maybe they encouraged terrorism and now it is out of hand. People who fight for their rights are in despair and Mr. Bush and Mr. Blair don't need to care anymore because their time will be over soon and they can retire.

You have been drinking to many half decaf caramel mocca latte'. No state is openly sponsering terrorist groups. But there is probably a lot of under the table action going on.
The terrorists are those who believe if they cause enough trouble the residing government will give up and give in. You name them Hammasm, Al Qaeda, Hezbollah, and many others, they are a minority who are screwing up what the majority of the people want.
If you don't believe that Hezbollah (supported by 20% of the population) yesterday swore to destroy the elected government of Lebanon and topple the leaders of the current government. That's a prime example of the minority wanting to rule the majorities actions and will do anything to achieve their goals.

First off, it's worth reading the following:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terrorism
This isn't definitive but, then again, what is?
Now, seriously people, let's be honest: what is it that Hamas, Hezbollah, and Al-Qaeda do that the US, Britain, France, Russia and Israel, to name but a few, haven't done in more terrifying, destructive, and equally nihilistic ways?
The massacre at Jenin is the kind of terrorist act that Hamas could only dream of pulling off. In any case, it is events like Jenin that are the primary reason for suicide bombings as a main tactic for Palestinian terrorists; it's their most powerful weapon against the enormous military machine that Israel has amassed with all the money they've been getting from the US since 1973. It is also a tactic borrowed from the Tamil Tigers who used it for much the same reason: the usual array of weapons they had were simply no match against the Sri Lanka armed forces.
Hamas and Hezbollah, by the way, were genuine resistance movements, formed to fight back against the Israeli invasion of Palestine and Lebanon, respectively. Hamas came about in 1987 and was, at least according to most of the world outside the US and Israel, the obvious next-step after more than twenty years of Israeli colonization and the brutalizing of Palestinians. Hezbollah formed after the 1982 invasion of southern Lebanon where the Israelis felt it was in order to slaughter 14,000 people. That these two religious movements became terrorist groups should surprise no one. It is, however, most unfortunate, seeing as to how they were, right up until the moment they decided to emulate their enemy, quite legitimate in what they demanded.
As for Al-Qaeda, it was created by the CIA using $4 billion of American tax-payer money to fight the Russkie menace. So the next time Americans wish to remind us about 9/11, they should remind themselves of who's responsible.
Look, most terrorist actions committed by people without a state (Palestinians, Kurds, Tamil Tigers, etc.) have some good reasons behind them. Then again, everything goes down the crapper when these groups decide on the usual "let's give them a taste of their own medicine" BS. They lose their legimitacy, they lose their moral standing (at least in my eyes).
However (and this is key), have any of these groups that so many Westerners despise done the following:
-Sanctions against Iraq during the nineties that, according to the UN, killed upwards of million people?
-The ethnic cleansing of Palestine, with refugees coming close to one million people of which almost half are from the days of the founding of Israel all the way up until the first intifada?
-The 14,000 Lebanese that died during Israel's 1982 invasion?
-The American campaign of terror in Central America during the 80's... or the 70's... or the 60's... or since time immemorial?
-The ridiculously immoral and illegal war on both Afghanistan and Iraq (and let's recall that the Taliban was a FRIEND of the USA only months before 9/11 and that they offered to extradite Bin Laden as long as they were presented with evidence)?
-Installing the Suharto regime in Indonesia, responsible for 500,000-1,000,000 deaths in the country and the killing of ONE-THIRD of the East-Timorese population?
-The slaughter of over 20,000 people in Chechnya (and this is since 1999, we're not counting Yeltsin's little excursion o'er there)?
-The killing of some 300,000 Filipino's between 1898 and 1903 by the US?
-AT LEAST three million dead in Indochina between 1961 and 1973?
The list is endless, to the point that Al-Qaeda, for instance, pales in comparison. Those f***kers, as murderous and humanely useless as one can find, could only dream of doing what the aforementioned world powers do on a regular basis.
I suggest to all those who answered this query and reflexively spoke only of groups like Hamas think, if only for a second, of whether said groups are perhaps RESULTS of policy, if they come about in something other than a vacuum.
In other words, people, get your head out of your respective anuses, it might actually save your life someday.
Obs: For those who think this is somehow important, I am Jewish, although I don't really care.
Cheers.

Terrorism is by virtue of its name and description a method used by a person or people who use fear and terror to intimidate other people or persons to accept or change an opposing view point to that of the those committing the acts of fear or terror.
So... the real terrorists are those that who cannot by legitimate democratic means gain power.
the U.S. the U.K. and Israel already have power in their own states... terrorist do not... i.e. Al Queda

Well, I'd say it's the 18 year old Arabs with raging hormones, who aren't allowed to date, or shave, or watch a movie, or play a computer game, or go on a spring break, or play sports, or dance, and thus feel so powerless that the only thing that makes sense to them is to take their own life so they will get to see the 72 virgins in the afterlife (lol), but they are SO angry that they might as well blow up as many innocent people as they can with themselves.
