Myspace does have an age limit, I think it 14. Unfortunately, there is no way for the admins to check or enforce this.
My 11-year old daughter doesn't have an Myspace account, because my wife and I REFUSE to let her have one. Her other 11-year old friends DO have Myspace accounts, only because they have falsified their ages when they created the accounts. On of the claims to be 18 and the other one claims to be 16. The content on the "18" year old's myspace site, shows a seductive self-portrait of this 11-year old child. She has full makeup on, and is wearing a tanktop, trying to accentuate her underage cleavage (she has none! She's 11-freakin years old!!!!). Some of the "friend list" messages are disturbing, i.e. sexually graphic and innuendo.
Even though myspace does have an age limit, because it's free to have an account, and geared to the pre-teens, I would guess the the majority of the account owners are underage (under 12-years old).
Remember Zanga.com? This website also catered to the teen websurfers. So, if not Myspace.com, and Zanga.com, some other website that caters to teens will open up and you would have the same issues as before.
Parents just have to be more aware of what's on the web. I know my wife and I closely monitor what our kids are doing on the web. We DO NOT allow any pc or laptop to be in their rooms at all. If they need web access, they use the pc in the family room, where either my wife or I will ask them what they need access for, such as homework research, WOW gaming, or accessing their (parent-approved) forums.
Adults, you have to communicate to your kids about what's going on with the web. Communicate, don't "talk at" your kids. If I "talk at" my kids, I get the zombie/dead eye stare, and I know I've lost them.
Kids/teens, most of us parents really do have your best interest at heart. It's just that sometimes, we parent's don't know how to let you know that we love you and are concerned for your safety. Either that, or some parent's are just ignorant about raising you to become responsible, future adults.
Be careful out there on the web and be safe. :-)

Age Limits are certainly set by employing Federal regulation and the youngster safety Acts that are in place. that's staggering what share people decide a thank you to get around this, yet many internet internet site are changing the way they permit people to have debts, even with the undeniable fact that that's a sluggish technique to get it in place. 2d, in maximum circumstances if a parent notifies the internet internet site and tells them they're going to enable the youngster to have an account they're going to many times settle for this by using fact then the parent will become in charge for what ever that youngster does. people merely don't understand that their behaviour and how they act and manage people on line, they're going to the two get banned or the internet internet site gets close down by employing the federal government.

Yes and no. As it has been stated not alot of people want to fork out there credit card if not needed. But I will put it this way. There should be no need for age limit on myspace or any of those types of sites. All we need is for parents to act like parents and parent there kids. All I'm saying is keep and eye on them you don't have to watch them 24/7 even though it is your duty. Just make them aware of the issue's with these site's and just check up on them from time to time. Thats all there is to it.

you actually have to be a certain age to even resgister. but since they have no way of checking a lot of younger people do get on it. i think it should have an age limit due to all the dumb young kids who get on there and post pictures of themselves 1/2 naked and give out their address's. my friends and i use as it as a way to keep in touch with each other since we are so busy with work and things, but some people are too young for it i think.

Myspace is open to everyone over the age of 13 because they want to maximize ad revenue via people clicking on banner ads.
Anyone can (and pretty much does) have a myspace account. :)

Are you saying they shouldn't allow people that are 'too young'? Or are you saying they shouldn't allow people that are 'too old'? Either way, they wouldn't be able to reliably verify someone's age. So.... myspace shouldn't have an age limit.

If it did have an age limit, how would you inforce it? Maybe by requiring credit cards? Well, not everyone has credit cards or wants it in the hands of some company who's not charging them for a service they really want/need....

Anyone can get a myspace account, but they do check for sexual predators and the like. It is hard for myspace to know who is telling the truth about their age and who isn't. But go ahead and get one, just don't talk to a bunch of strangers, and never post your address or phone number.

No, I have seen all ages use it. Also I think if people are worried about kids using it and getting in trouble, they should keep an eye on their kids.
