windows xp isnt as new as norton 2007 so i would think that advancements have been made over the years to make the firewalls better.

Nortons Internet Security takes up alot space and power on your computor. I have never had a firewall except for Microsoft for 10 yrs when they started putting them in XP, my first. I keep everything up to date and clean. No problems.

norton internet security is far advanced and effective than windows firewall which is meant for most basic protection(useless now a days)

I've heard that the Microsoft XP default firewall isn't great...at all.

do you have a router????

if so you dont need any software firewalls but if not just use windows iv never been "hacked" ...all i use is my routers firewall

Use both and find something else to add like AVG (www.grisoft.com). The more the merrier or "just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you"
