Suddenly? Well I am Caucasian with a butt and my grandmother had some junk in her trunk so I don't necessarily agree that white women are suddenly growing butts these days. In fact I'm looking at a flat *** ed black woman on T.V. maybe she just missed out on the butt gene.

Umm...we've always had them but our white culture told us that large hips and butts were unattractive, so we dressed in clothes that didn't emphasize them. Now, society seems to think curves are cute and I agree =)

it's all my doing. I come around the day after boxing day in a rocket powered snowmobile and slip my secret blend of 11 herbs and spices into their pants while they are sleeping. I know when they been good and bad.

Your the second person I heard say that in the last month. I think the low rise jeans have something to do with it. Are you black too?

Could be modern diet. Many credit this for girls more commonly developing larger breasts at a younger age.

I cant really give you an answer, but many will say it has something to do with dating and having sex with black men, and hanging out with black people eating soul food and such.

they have always been around, you just didn't notice them because the media used to tell you that skinny, anorexic models were attractive and you listened to them rather than forming your own opinion. now that the media tells you that women with butts (j. lopez, beyonce, etc.) are attractive you've started noticing them.
