Didn't really help it any more than Kobe's 30 pt. quarter or anything else, because really, the NBA doesn't need help. It's already at a blue-chip level with fans (except in Toronto). Didn't really help out in a Defensive perspective, but a classic game that people like to see. I would call it a "Bonus" rather than a "Necessary" game for the NBA.

I believe it helped the league. Although I loved watching the Piston's defensive prowess in the run to the world championship in the spring of '04, generally good defense is not appreciated by most fans. Offense is always exciting. I am excited to find out when the game will be reshown. If the league is looking to garner new fans, what better way than a shoot out. Is there any water cooler in all of America today where the topic isn't the game in which over 300 points were scored? It definitely helped the league. I am sure there will be basketball purists that say a game like that highlights all that is wrong with the NBA. It may be true that they aren't entirley wrong in their feeling. However, more people will watch games, listen to sports programming and read the sports page in the forseeable future.
Watching ESPN today from 5-6 today will give you a feel for how sports journalists from around the country feel about the game.
The shows that are on ESPN at that time showcase journalists weighing in their opinions on current sports topics.

David Stern is Poison to the NBA He has made it so you can barely play any type of Physical defense. I've been a fan since hand checking was allowed and at that time guys were scoring over a hundred points ever night. It's not the ball or the defense it's the inept players who only care about highlight real dunks and crossover's. The Suns and Nets are B level Teams in a D level league. And them having a high scoring game means nothing for the NBA the real fans no better.

I think the game helped the NBA in that it proved why they moved the 3 point line in - more points. This is why the Commissioner doesn't want a lot of defense - more points. This is also the reason why the changed the hand checking rule - makes it esier to score - and again more points. He thinks people want to see more games like this. The NBA is about entertainment. Points, in David Stern's mind, equivocates to Entertainment. Personally, I love any game that goes over 100 points as long as it's not a blow-out. More scoring is good especially when it's a combined 300+ points and the final score was only a four point difference.
Kobe is not overrated. Over-hated? Yes, but never overrated. Hey, when the game is on the line there are a couple of players I would love to see with the rock and Kobe is one of them. He sometimes takes illadvised shots - I'll give you that. But he's good. He also plays both ends of the court. This year you have seen of couple of ighlight plays on ESPN or NBATV where Kobe has blocked a dunk or layup. Give him the credit he deserves!! He has 3 rings and will probably get a chance at a 4th. I know he couldn't have gotten his 3 rings w/o SHAQ. But, MJ wouldn't have gotten his w/o Pippen. Magic wouldn't have gotten his w/o Kareem, & Worthy. Bird wouldn't have gotten his w/o McHale and Parrish. The list can go on and on. You always need another guy to help you.

To help the NBA out. get rid of Stern. His ego in trying to control the game has ruined. You want to know the biggest example. How come teh country that plays basketball, invented basketball and all that other good stuff can't even win at the world level. its simply because around the world they know the proper way of playing basketball, where a good passing, shooting dribbling are key.
Basketball is not about how pretty u can make a layup or a slam dunk, 2 points is 2 points no matter if you slammed the ball or 16 foot jump shot.
So to improve basketball we gotta re-invent the culture of basketball here in our own homes. Im a raptor fan myself (to the person who called out toronto) we got our fans. we dont get the same level of coverage as you fans in the south.
basically this is a long discussion but if your asking can ONE single game change or help the NBA, the answer is no. It starts with each team playing better basketball.

No, the Suns are a disgrace to the league due to their high offense, running, dont even try on D approach, unfortunately they are influencing most other teams to do the same
for a true fan watching such a horribly defensive game is painful efficiency on offense is great but true skills and passion are on the D end
and kobe is not overrated he is easily the most talented player in the league, this fact is the main reason he is hated so much

you purchased a element. First around wont be a shocker who will win yet while a right ranked team lose, it's going to be a marvel. i could say Rockets and the Jazz. Houston scorers are MIng and T-Mac. Jazz- Carlos Boozer, Mehemt Okur, and Deron Williams. Houston help comes from Alston,Luther head(for the threes) and different gamers. Jazz have been given extra helpful all around PG. Its going to T-Mac,Ming vs Boozer,Okur, and Williams. i choose Jazz to win, they have a extra helpful bench. the two communities havent made the playoffs in a on an identical time as. yet Ming and T-Mac would be 2 headed beast if the two stay healthful mutually. Ming and T-Mac would be like Shaq and Kobe in the playoffs, super centers which could dominate and a super scorer which could take over. Williams pin element passing and Jazz can end. Williams can score. it incredibly relies upon the protection of the Jazz

There is very little one game could do. It didn't break any world records, or personal records (at least I dont believe) and it was just a great game and I only saw the recap on sports center.
But it's not just going to make the NBA blow-up over night.

No, the NBA is boring. Not enough great players and too many crybabies. Kobe is overrated and will never win as long as Tim Duncan and Dirk Nowitzki is in the league.

I do. Man it reminded me of the old 80's when teams ave 120 pts a game. Its great for basketball. I just hope they dont say it was the new ball that did it. Cause that ball stinks!!!
