Any suggestions on a .COM domain name for my new company?
We go around to nightclubs and pubs, taking pictures of people having a good time, then sell them back to them online.
Keywords might be something like:
snaps, clicks, photos, scene, party, club, night, etc
Name must be available in a .COM domain name.

www.canyouremember.com - Then hand out a little flyer for them to take homes saying....Too much booze? Can't you remember? Visit us to see your photo and purchase it online.

I like "clubography" and "canyouremember" (except "canyouremember" could look like "can youre member," spelled incorrectly but still...)
(P.S. both are owned by domain registration companies--they'd probably sell it to you, but you can't just pick it up. I think the problem is that most descriptive domains like that have already been purchased by such companies. You can find out the owner of a name by going to http://www.whois.com)
By chosing a domain, you are choosing your business name. This is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT and should not be taken lightly. I would suggest hiring a marketing firm -- even if you can only pay them $1000 or so -- at least to brainstorm with you to get a name that your target demographic will remember, that will be distinctive, and will represent your business well.

Then, you also need to talk to a trademark attorney, because the name you choose might be owned by someone else, and if you just randomly choose a name, you might end up getting sued, with a court forcing you to turn over your domain name for nothing. Even if you're running a small business, this is EXTREMELY important.

Call your local bar association and ask for a referral for a trademark attorney.

What sort of articles will you be showing on your website? Also where are you based? For what community? Domain names are very personal things, you need to think about them carefully and find somethign that is catchy and relates to your subject area or geographical area. The more information you put here, the more chance someone will suggest you a catchy domain. I own a web design business, and am the managing director. Our company name is RM CONCEPT LTD. My name is Rik, my business partner is Mark, so its RM for our first initials, and then we liked Concept, sounded catchy so thats our domain/company name. We have other sites, and everythign relates to the site, is catchy and sounds sticks in peoples minds. That is what you should look for when picking a domain.

With a company like yours I'd be worried that someone might file a lawsuit for using their image online without their permission. The United States has the highest lawsuits of any other country in the world. Many people try to make a quick buck by sueing someone! And there's a lot of shady lawyers out there willing to file lawsuits for just about anything! Before starting your company I would suggest getting legal advice about using someone's image online without their permission. Just ask the guy who owns Girls Gone Wild about lawsuits!
