Do they still have the moral authority to pursue anti gay marriage, anti hate crime legislation, anti-equal rights causes?

I never gave them moral authority over my life, and neither have millions of other Americans. Sorry, I just had to say that first, mostly because I'm really tired of their self-righteousness. Anyway, no, they will continue to stick to their agenda to dictate who does and does not receive civil rights in this country. Hopefully, a return to moderate political thought, which seems to be growing every day, will return them to the corner they deserve to lurk in. Every day I find that I have a little less patience than the day before for extremists in general.

Not to John #4: Being open-minded does NOT mean accepting everything that everyone believes. I'm very open-minded, and I have no objection to saying that the Nazis were wrong and that their agenda was evil. Oh, and unacceptable, but that's obvious.

People will continue to have "moral authority" as long as they assert that they do. People are slowly realizing just what the anti-gay movement really is. Every time a neoconservative opposes hate-crime legislation, it becomes more obvious that what they're really supporting is discrimination. Even on Fox News, when there's a gay marriage debate, the pro- side comes out on top nine times out of ten, because the anti- argument is full of millions of inconsistencies unless you're arguing for a theocracy.

The wheels of change start slowly, but once they start moving, there's no stopping them.

i do no longer think of that's an prepared team, no longer in straightforward terms like the Log Cabin Republicans. (yet how a gay American could be a Republican beggers the mind's eye - like Jews interior the Nazi occasion...) yet truly, i think of it in basic terms represents the 4-6% of human beings who're gay. for many interior the GOP, it relatively is a substantial subject. The GOP is somewhat antagonistic to, as they say, the "gay time table", the "gay life-form" and "San Francisco values". there are loads of gay individuals interior the GOP, they in basic terms save it quiet. Barney Frank could be out interior the Democratic occasion. Mark Foley ought to in no way be out interior the GOP. Gee, is Rush gay? which would be a hoot.

They never had the moral authority to pursue an anti-gay agenda.
Just pandering to your base doesn't make you the Pope. He could be said to have a moral authority, and given the Church's' response to child molestation, I have some misgivings about that.

So because the Republicans do not accept everything the liberals demand they are labeled anti-gay. Typical liberal scare tactic to get people in to fearfully voting for a full blown pro gay agenda just so they aren't seen as a homophobic jerk. Whatever. Liberals tried to pull that down here in TN with Ford Jr., it blew up in his face. Mary Cheney and Ted Haggard aren't even politicians.

Oh, and hate crime legislation is racist because it judges based upon skin color, not the crime at hand

And Affirmitive Action is not equal rights. Its making some more "equal" than others. Thats not equality, thats favouritism.

I'm sure you didn't read a word of this and just thumbed it down.

Hey Mr. Morality
Ever hear of the Log Cabin Republicans?
Are there any Log Cabin dems, or just radical gay dems?
I'm pretty sure the dems win out with 3 queens, Barnie (The Flame) Franks, Jim (have I got a book for you!) McGovern, & Janet (the carpet cleaner) Reno.

Well its sad, and demonstrates the hypocrisy and dishonesty which has creep into republican party. These people were few months ago their loud speakers. I fear if this is only the tip of ice berg... If they can lie to this extent once , do not u think they had been lying all along.

Do they still have the moral authority? No, never had it anyway.

Will they still claim the moral authority? Yes. Their hypocrisy knows no limits...

Republicans were never anti-gay. You just think of them as anti-gay because they don't swallow everything gay activists demand.

This is "debate" for you liberals: when someone disagrees with you, regardless of the reasons or logic, smear them with an epithet, like "racist," or "sexist," or "homophobe." This is especially helpful when you have no idea what you're talking about and just want to put the other person on the defensive.

They will always have the CLOSET

Like a line from a Boggie Movie. "What's a congressman like me doing in the closet with a Page like you"

GO big Red Go
